Toyota dealership extends reach to Thailand
TOKYO -- Toyota Corolla Shin Osaka has opened a dealership in a northeastern Thai province near the border with Laos where it sees demand growing as road infrastructure improves.
The Osaka company invested about 1 billion yen ($9.69 million) in its first overseas location, in Udon Thani. It was launched through a joint venture with a Thai partner.
Besides selling new and used Toyotas, the dealership offers maintenance and repair services. Some 160 workers are employed at the roughly 30,000-sq.-meter site.
With a monthly sales target of 150 units, the dealership offers a lineup including Corolla sedans and IMV emerging-market vehicles.
