Dollar stays above 102 yen in early Tokyo deals
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The U.S. dollar traded above the 102 yen line in Tokyo early Wednesday in line with its firmness in New York overnight.
At 9 a.m., the dollar fetched 102.15-20 yen compared with 102.10-20 yen in New York and 102.03-04 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
The euro was quoted at $1.3548-3550 and 138.42-45 yen against $1.3542-3552 and 138.32-42 yen in New York and $1.3560-3561 and 138.36-40 yen in Tokyo late Tuesday afternoon.
In New York overnight, the dollar was bought against the yen on expectations of wider interest rate gaps between the United States and Japan after a larger-than-expected rise in U.S. consumer prices for May, dealers said.
