Tokyo stocks almost flat in morning amid lack of fresh incentives
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Tokyo stocks ended Monday morning almost flat as selling to lock in gains after last week's rally offset buying due to investors' expectations of a rise in Japanese stocks amid a dearth of fresh incentives.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 11.22 points, or 0.07 percent, from Friday to 15,329.56. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 0.73 point, or 0.06 percent, at 1,271.41.
Major gainers included marine transport and utility shares, while nonferrous metal and real estate ones lost ground.
