Boat carrying Indonesians sinks off Malaysia, 66 feared dead
KUALA LUMPUR (Kyodo) -- Sixty-six people are feared dead after a boat carrying Indonesian migrant workers capsized overnight off the west coast of Malaysia, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency said Wednesday.
A spokesman for the agency said 31 people have been rescued during a search operation, which was launched after a distress call was received about a boat sinking some 2 nautical miles off the coast of Kuala Langat district in Selangor state.
He said they are mostly Indonesians working in Kuala Langat who were on their way back to Indonesia.
The search is continuing.
