Subscriptions

1. Digital

Digital subscribers get unlimited access to the services offered on the website and mobile apps for the purchased period.

Subscriptions will be automatically renewed with the currently effective plan unless cancelled or changed before the renewal date.

2. Digital + Print

Digital + Print subscribers get the same unlimited access as digital subscribers and additionally will be sent a weekly print edition for the purchased period. Prices include shipping fees.

For certain countries we may not be able to provide this package. We currently cannot accept delivery to Somalia. For the latest situation please see here

3. Mobile Apps

App subscribers will have access to all contents on mobile apps for the purchased period. Subscriptions will be available through Apple's App store and Google's Google Play store. Subscriptions purchased on the App store will be valid only on iOS devices. Subscriptions purchased on the Google Play store will be only valid on Android devices.

Subscriptions will be automatically renewed unless you change your settings.

4. Digital Subscriber Subscription cycle example



Subscriptions will renew on the same day that your first subscription was purchased.

If the date that you purchased your subscription is a date that does not exist in the month that the subscription is to renew, the last date existing in the renew month will be the renewal date. If in this case a automatic renewal of your subscription is made, the next renewal date will be the nearest date to the first date that you purchased your subscription.

For example if your first purchase of a 1 month Digital subscription is Jan 31,

-> First Renewal Date Feb 28 (If it is a leap year it will end on the 29)
-> Second Renewal Date March 31
-> Third Renewal Date April 30
-> Fourth Renewal Date May 31...and so on.

5. Digital + Print subscriber Subscription cycle example



A copy of the print edition of that week will be sent out if the subscriber has a valid subscription on the Monday of that week.

The subscription cycle of the digital part of the subscription will be identical to Digital subscriptions.

6. Accepted payment methods

Only payment by credit card is acceptable. If you do not have a credit card, unfortunately we cannot provide you with a subscription.

The accepted credit cards are Visa and Master card only.

If you are a corporate subscriber you can opt to make payment by other methods. Please contact us for details.

For subscriptions for mobile apps, please refer to the instructions of the store that you purchased your subscription from.

7. Applicable currency exchange rates for subscription fees

Exchange rates will differ according to the credit card that you use for payment. For details please consult your credit card issuer.

8. Certificate of subscription

A certificate of subscription will not be issued. You can check your payment history on the "Your account" page. Access the page by clicking on the "Your account" link in the top right hand corner of the website.

9. Cancellation and changes to subscriptions mid-contract and refunds

Cancelation and changes to subscriptions mid-contract and refunds are not offered. A cancellation or change of subscription will only be effective for the next subscription after the expiry of the current subscription.

10. How to cancel or change your next subscription

Access the "Your account" page from the link at the top right corner of the website and change or cancel your next subscription.

For mobile apps please refer to instructions for the store that you purchased your subscription from.

11. How to edit your account details and payment details

Access the "Your account" page from the link at the top right corner of the website and change your account details and payment details by clicking on "edit" buttons located on the top right corners of the corresponding fields.

12. Duplicate subscriptions

In the event that you accidentally make duplicate subscriptions, we will not offer refunds or accept cancellation of subscriptions.

13. Corporate subscriptions

For corporate subscribers we offer corporate rates depending on the number of subscriptions purchased. For further details please contact us. We will have our nearest sales agency contact you as soon as possible.

14. Non subscriber

If you are a non subscriber you are granted free access to 10 articles per month on the website. You may also be granted free access to a selected number of articles on mobile apps. Conditions are subject to change without notice.

Using the website

1. Usage Environment

Depending on the browser used it may not be possible to use part or all of the website.

2. Logging in

Press the "Log in" button at the top of the page and type in your e-mail address or trial ID and password.

3. Login "Remember me" feature

You can make your browser remember your login details for 30 days by checking the "Remember me" box when logging in. Please refrain from using this feature if you are accessing from a PC that is shared with other people.

4. Accessing weekly editions

Go to the top page and click on the cover image of the "Latest issues" section or click the "Magazine" link on the navigation bar at the top of the page.

5. Accessing back issues

Click the "Magazine" link on the navigation bar at the top of the page.

6. Searching for articles

Type a word that you would like to search in the search box located in the top right hand corner and click the search button. On the search results page you can sort and filter your search results by using the options located on the left side of the page.

7. Sort by region

The "Sort by Region" feature filters articles by region. This feature is useful when you want to read news about a certain country or region.

8. Printing articles

Press the "Print" button located at the top of the article that you would like to print. A printer friendly version of the article will be shown in a separate window.

The printing of articles are strictly meant for personal use only. If you intend to use articles for commercial purposes please contact us for further information.

9. RSS feeds

10. Forgotten ID's and Passwords

Your ID is the email address that you used to register.

You can change your password from the "Forgot password?" link located on the "Login window". You will receive an email to your registered email address that will contain a link to the change password feature.

This process is only possible through the website.

11. Editing ID's and Passwords

You cannot change your ID.

To change your password access the "Your account" page and press the "Edit" button for the "Your account" field. You can change your password after clicking the "Change" button next to your current password.

This process is only possible through the website.

12. Editing payment information

To change your payment information access the "Your account" page and press the "Edit" button for the "Payment information" field. Edit your payment information and press the "save" button.

To edit your payment information for app subscriptions follow the instructions provided by the store that you purchased your subscription from.

13. Editing account details

To change your account details access the "Your account" page and press the "Edit" button for the "Your account" field. You can change your password after clicking the change button next to your current password.

This process is only possible through the website.

14. Checking your current subscription details

Access the "Your account" page.

You can only access your current subscription details from the website.

15. Contact preferences

You will receive updates and special offers from Nikkei, Nikkei's partners and third parties if you opt to do so.

To opt in or out, access the "Your account" page from the link located in the top right corner of the website.

App subscribers will not be able to use this service.

Using mobile apps (Android)

1. Usage Environment

Android 2.2 and older versions are not supported.

2. Installing the app

Search for the Nikkei Asian Review app on the Google Play store and install the app.

3. Logging in

To log in, access the "Subscription" screen from the "Account" button located on the top right corner of the magazine index page or from the "Subscribe Now" button that appears on articles within the app that have a pay wall. Press the "Log in" button and enter your Digital subscriber credentials.

4. Applying app subscription information to multiple devices

To apply app subscription information to multiple devices from a subscription that has been purchased on Google Play, sign in your device with the Google Account that you purchased a subscription with, and access the app within your subscription period.

5. Accessing latest issues

Check that you have an internet connection and access the bookshelf page. Push the cover image of the issue that you would like to download. Once you have downloaded the data you can read the issue. To access all content make sure that you are logged in on the app.

6. Automatic download of latest issues

This feature is not offered for the mobile app for Android.

7. Deleting downloaded content

Access the bookshelf page and push and hold the cover image of the issue that you would like to delete. A menu will appear where you can select to either delete stored data of the selected issue or delete all stored data of the issues that have been downloaded.

To read deleted issues again just re-download the issue during your subscription period.

8. Push notifications

Open your Settings menu from the home screen. Under "Device" head to "Manage Apps" and select the Nikkei Asian Review app. Turn the "Notifications" check box on or off for the desired settings.

9. Reading offline

Issues downloaded beforehand can be read offline. Features that require an internet connection will be available once your device is connected to a network.

10. Purchase of individual issues

Sales of individual issues are not offered.

11. Automatic renewals

You can manage auto-renew of your subscription from the Nikkei Asian Review app page on the Google Play store.

Using mobile apps (iOS)

1. Usage Environment

iOS5.x and older versions are not supported.

2. Installing the app

Search for the Nikkei Asian Review app on the App Store and install the app.

3. Logging in

To log in, access the "Subscription" screen from the "Account" button located on the top right corner of the magazine index page or from the "Subscribe Now" button that appears on articles within the app that have a pay wall. Press the "Log in" button and enter your Digital subscriber credentials.

4. Restoring subscription information

If you purchased a subscription through iTunes and have lost your access, you can restore your subscription on the device via which you purchased your subscription.

To restore your subscription access the "Subscription" page on the app and tap the "Restore" button.

Note: if you delete and reinstall the app, you will need to "Restore" to access your subscription.

5. Accessing latest issues

Check that you have an internet connection and access the bookshelf page. Push the cover image of the issue that you would like to download. Once you have downloaded the data you can read the issue. To access all content make sure that you are logged in on the app.

6. Automatic download of latest issues

iOS7
To automatically download the latest issue access Settings> General> Background App Refresh and turn "Background App Refresh" on for both the device and Nikkei Asian Review. The latest issue will be downloaded when the device has an internet connection.

iOS6
To automatically download the latest issue access Settings> Store and turn auto-download on for the Nikkei Asian Review app. The latest issue will be automatically downloaded when the device has a Wi-Fi connection.

7. Deleting downloaded content

Access the bookshelf page and push and hold the cover image of the issue that you would like to delete. A menu will appear where you can select to either delete stored data of the selected issue or delete all stored data of the issues that have been downloaded.

Print edition

1. Publication and delivery dates

A new issue will be published weekly on Thursdays. 51 issues will be published a year. Delivery dates differ depending on delivery addresses and postal operation situations.

2. Updating delivery addresses

Access the "Your account" page from the link at the top right corner of the website and edit your delivery address details. Changes made to your details by Monday (JST) will be applied to the delivery of the issue to be sent out on that week.

3. Claims regarding delivery

Please contact us through our inquiry form if you do not receive an issue.

4. Temporary hold of delivery

We cannot temporarily hold delivery of the print edition.

5. Print only subscription

Subscription to the print edition is offered only as a package with a Digital subscription.

1. Comments regarding editorial material

Please send your comments regarding editorial material from the inquiry form on the contact us page. Please be aware comments submitted may be published in a anonymous style.

2. Contributions

If you wish to make a contribution to Nikkei Asian Review, please contact us from our inquiry form.

3. Difference of content between platforms

Articles published on the print edition and mobile apps are identical. Additionally to this, the website will include other content that is updated through the day.

To have access to all the content you must either purchase a Digital or Digital + Print subscription.
