The Latin America-Asia schmooze fest
A new artery is nourishing Asia and Latin America, carrying goods from one side of the Pacific to the other. In the past 10 years, trade between the regions has grown tenfold.
At one point, iron ore and other natural resources were using the artery to feed China's voracious economy. Now it's more of a two-way street, bringing stuff to the emerging economies in each region.
As nations develop, they nurture new companies, which beget new innovations. And since numerous nations on either side of this sea are developing at similar clips, the ideas and products their companies are coming up with are easily assimilated on the other side of the trade route.
Even politicians want to join the flow. After Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will travel to Latin America later this month.
