Nikkei Asia's coverage of the regional food crisis and the response to it has won an award from SGX Group, the Singapore exchange.

A piece entitled "Asia's New Food Frontier", by Nikkei Asia correspondents Akito Tanaka, Dylan Loh, Pak Yiu and Jada Nagumo, secured an Orb prize for its coverage of the rise of edible technology. The article formed one of five parts of the Feeding Asia series, Nikkei Asia's debut in visually-rich journalism.

The article won in the "collaborate to compete" section of the awards, which are now in their fifth year. The piece examined developments in new technologies aimed at feeding Asia's growing population against a backdrop of price inflation, climate change, supply chain disruptions and shrinking resources. The article included tastings of lab-cultivated meat and an exploration of 3D-printed food.

The Feeding Asia series was led by Jui Chakravorty, special projects editor.
