HONG KONG -- China Telecom expects to have 60 million subscribers to its high-speed 4G mobile service by the end of 2015. China's third largest mobile service provider said Wednesday that some of those subscribers will come as the company expands its coverage area.
In February, China Telecom was granted a FDD-LTE license, which allows it to build up its fourth generation infrastructure by upgrading its existing 3G base stations. The upgrades are expected to help China Telecom improve its competitiveness with China Mobile and China Unicom.
