TAIPEI -- King Liu, the 79-year-old chairman and founder of Giant Manufacturing, the world's largest bicycle maker, has finished a tour of Taiwan by bicycle, according to reports by local media.
This was the second time for Liu to accomplish the feat. He traveled 966km in 12 days this time, much faster than 927km in 15 days in 2007, when he took up the challenge for the first time. He will turn 80 in July, but his daily training has paid off.
He has also taken long-distance bike rides in Japan and China to demonstrate how fun riding a bicycle is and how wonderful his company's products are.
Liu expressed his determination to complete a third ride around Taiwan in seven years' time.
