Japan's IHI to launch microsatellites with Finland's Iceye

Data from the spacecraft likely to be sold to Japan's Defense Ministry

TOKYO -- Japanese defense contractor IHI will launch small observation satellites through a partnership with Finnish space developer Iceye, Nikkei has learned.

IHI will launch up to 24 radar microsatellites through fiscal 2027. The spacecraft -- built by either IHI or Iceye -- will be sent to a low-orbit altitude of 500 kilometers.
