TOKYO -- Japan's Ministry of Defense hosted an event here to facilitate deals between the U.S. military and Japanese defense contractors, seeking to promote the country's ship and aircraft-related maintenance services and space satellite parts.

The two-day event, dubbed Industry Day, ended Friday. Twenty-three Japanese companies and seven U.S. businesses participated. The number of Japanese participants was down from 26 at last October's inaugural event.
