TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries said on Tuesday that it is pushing ahead with plans to expand the workforce in its energy and defense businesses, betting on sustained business from Washington and Tokyo despite political transitions in both the U.S. and Japan.
MHI plans to boost head count by 10% at its gas turbine and nuclear businesses by March 2027 and by 40% at its defense unit, CEO Seiji Izumisawa said following the release of the company's April-September earnings. He expects capital spending to grow by 30% over the same period at the nuclear power business and by 40% at its defense operations.
