TOKYO -- Japanese farm equipment maker Kubota plans to strengthen its production in India, with the aim of expanding exports to Africa and reducing costs in Southeast Asia.

The company is in the process of selecting a site for a new plant in India as it seeks to double its tractor production capacity and market share by 2030 in the South Asian country. But Kubota's President Yuichi Kitao also sees the potential of taking the Indian business beyond the domestic market.
