BANGKOK -- Thailand's rice exports are likely to hit a six-year high of about 10 million tonnes this year, backed by surging demand from Indonesia, the Philippines and other importers, according to industry officials.

The Southeast Asian country is among the world's top rice exporters, along with Vietnam and India. In the first 11 months of the year, Thailand shipped more than 9 million tonnes of rice abroad, surpassing its annual target of 8 million tonnes. Exporters forecast deliveries of around 500,000 to 800,000 tonnes in December.
