SYDNEY -- Australian farmers, long accustomed to battling unpredictable weather, are now keeping a close eye on a volatile trade landscape that could, experts say, drive up demand for their goods.

Commonwealth Bank agricultural economist Dennis Voznesenski said China's retaliatory tariffs of 15% on U.S. farm exports, which went into effect this week, could lead to more Australian wheat, barley and sorghum headed to Asia's largest economy, although not right away.
