AirAsia's passenger traffic grows 7% in seasonally strong December-quarter

KUALA LUMPUR (NewsRise) - AirAsia, the largest budget airline by fleet in Asia, said its passenger traffic rose in the fourth quarter thanks to a seasonal surge in leisure travel demand that boosted its Malaysian and Philippine operations.

Total passengers carried rose 7% year-on-year to 14.51 million, faster than a 5% increase in seat capacity, AirAsia said in a statement. Load factor, a measure of how full planes are with paying passengers, rose two percentage-points to 85% from a year earlier in the quarter ended December 31.
