BEIJING -- Chinese automotive battery leader CATL unveiled a battery for plug-in hybrids on Thursday that has a maximum range of 400 kilometers and can receive a 280-km charge in 10 minutes, as it looks to tap growing domestic demand for plug-ins.

Vehicles equipped with the battery can be used for a week on a single charge, Gao Huan, Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd.'s chief technical officer for domestic vehicles, told a news conference to announce the battery, dubbed Freevoy, in Beijing.
