TOKYO -- As Honda Motor struggles in its automobile business, the Japanese automaker seeks to maintain its global crown in motorcycles by electrifying two-wheelers in India.

Honda will rely on its signature engine technology as well as electrification to forge a path to success. The two-pronged strategy will require heavy investment but will be necessary to capture market share in emerging markets, where electric vehicles are steadily taking hold.
