TOKYO -- Honda Motor will release electric scooters in India for the first time through its local arm early next year, a move in line with its goal of going gasoline-free by midcentury.

During an event in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Honda unveiled two e-scooters: the Activa e, which features swappable batteries that can be removed for charging, and the QC1, which has a fixed battery. The Activa e can travel 102 kilometers on a full charge, while the QC1 has an 80-km range. Deliveries are slated to start in February, though prices have not been disclosed.
