NEW YORK -- Nissan Motor has halted the development of two electric vehicles it had planned to produce in the U.S., as the struggling automaker narrows its model pipeline to improve efficiency.

The Japanese company has canceled two sedans out of the four EVs it had planned to produce at its Canton, Mississippi plant from 2028. Development of two electric SUVs will continue.
