HAMBURG, Germany -- South Korean EV battery-makers Samsung SDI and SK On in Hungary are facing falling EV demand at a time of rising competition from Chinese peers.

China's CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co.), EVE Energy and Sunwoda Electronic are expanding their footprint in Europe by setting up in Hungary after Prime Minister Viktor Orban threw open the country's doors to Chinese investment.
