NEW YORK -- As Tesla and BYD fight for gains in electric-vehicle sales, Elon Musk's automaker is touting a vision of a self-driving future that will deliver fresh growth.

Tesla last week unveiled the Cybercab, a prototype robotaxi with no steering wheel or pedals. Musk said that the Cybercab will sell for less than $30,000 and that production will begin "before 2027."
