JAKARTA -- Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup officially launched its electric taxi service, Xanh SM, in Jakarta on Wednesday, following a weeklong trial during which it offered free rides to users.

Green and Smart Mobility (GSM), the ride-hailing unit of Vingroup and the operator of Xanh SM taxis, chose Indonesia as its second overseas market after Laos. The service made its debut in Vietnam in April 2023 and now operates in 61 cities across the country.
