GUANGZHOU -- A Xiaomi electric vehicle was involved in a fatal highway crash in China's Anhui province while using a driver assistance feature, the Chinese technology company said Tuesday.

The crash occurred at 10:44 p.m. on Saturday in the city of Tongling. According to Xiaomi's statement, the vehicle had been traveling at 116 kilometers per hour while in navigate on autopilot (NOA) mode as it approached road work, which required vehicles to detour into the opposite lane.
