TOKYO -- Honda Motor aims to double its global sales of hybrid vehicles compared with 2023, excluding China, to 1.3 million in 2030 under plans laid out Wednesday, as a bridge to cover the slower-than-expected shift to electric cars.

As part of this effort, the Japanese automaker will roll out in 2026 a new hybrid model with fuel economy on a par with that of market leader Toyota Motor.
