SEOUL -- Hyundai Motor says it will be relatively free from heavy tariffs on Canada and Mexico despite U.S. President Donald Trump's potential 25% tariffs on the two countries.

The South Korean automaker said in an earnings call on Thursday that it can cover most of its sales in the U.S. through its factories in Alabama and Georgia. "Once we do get that up and running, we should be able to have approximately 70%, 80% covered out of the U.S. market going forward," said Koo Zayong, a Hyundai executive.
