TOKYO -- Hyundai Motor opens its first directly run service center in Japan on Saturday, creating a hub for test drives and maintenance of the company's high-powered electric vehicles, as the automaker returns to the Japanese market after a nearly 12-year absence.

Hyundai Mobility Japan, the local subsidiary of the South Korean automaker, said Friday that its Yokohama "customer experience center" will display vehicles on the first floor with a maintenance garage opening there in September.
