TOKYO -- Mazda Motor, the fastest-growing Japanese automaker in the U.S. over the past 10 years, is switching to survival mode as it focuses on weathering the storm of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policies.

Mazda announced on Monday that it is withholding an earnings forecast for the year ending March 2026. "We are telling our suppliers that we are moving into survival mode," Mazda President Masahiro Moro said at a financial results briefing.
