Nissan and Mitsubishi to boost output of electric kei cars 20%

Sales of Nissan and Mitsubishi's jointly developed electric vehicles have been brisk since their release in June.

TOKYO -- Nissan Motor and Mitsubishi Motors will increase production of jointly developed electric kei vehicles by about 20% in fiscal 2023, buoyed by brisk sales at home. 

Nissan markets the electric mini cars as the Sakura while Mitsubishi sells them as the eK X EV. Sales have been brisk since their June release, with total orders already reaching 35,000 units.
