TOKYO -- Ivan Espinosa, Nissan Motor's new president and CEO, must urgently reduce excess capacity as sales decline in major markets, and develop attractive models as the global shift to EVs gathers pace.

His appointment and changes in the Japanese automaker's top management come a month after it abandoned merger negotiations with Honda Motor.
