TOKYO -- Nissan Motor's shares surged on Wednesday, following a report that the Japanese automaker will enter negotiations toward a merger with Honda Motor, another carmaker based in Japan.
The stock price opened at 417.6 yen, 23.7% higher than the previous day's close on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, reaching the upper limit of the daily price range set by the bourse for each stock. Wednesday trading ended at that price.
