TOKYO -- Demand for plug-in hybrids continues to grow in China, with a U.K. research firm raising its 2025 sales forecast by 25%, as domestic automakers follow electric vehicle giant BYD and bet big on the sector while hybrid-focused Japanese companies struggle.
GlobalData, which updates its forecast for worldwide new-car demand every three months, raised its projection for China plug-in hybrid sales next year to 4.39 million units.
