Renault to discuss EV venture with Nissan and Mitsubishi

CEO Luca de Meo in Japan to meet with members of Franco-Japan alliance

Nissan Motor sold over half a million Leaf electric vehicles since the 2010 debut. Renault looks to collaborate closer with its Japanese partner on EVs.

TOKYO -- Renault will discuss forming a new electric vehicle company with alliance partners Nissan Motor and Mitsubishi Motors, the French automaker's CEO, Luca de Meo, told Nikkei on Wednesday.

De Meo confirmed such talks will be initiated when asked about the matter during a visit to Tokyo.
