TOKYO -- Sony Group and Honda Motor will use artificial intelligence to enhance self-driving capabilities in electric vehicles that the partners are developing, Nikkei has learned, playing catch-up to technology leader Tesla.

Joint venture Sony Honda Mobility will introduce the AI autonomous driving function in the luxury Afeela model, which is expected to debut in Japan and the U.S. in 2026.
