TOKYO -- Suzuki Motor will work with a Nagoya-based startup to develop self-driving technology for minicars, aiming to meet demand from Japan's less-populated regions in need of compact autonomous cars that can travel on narrow roads.
The Japanese automaker has contributed to a new round of fundraising known as Series B by the startup, Tier IV, which develops autonomous driving technology and assists carmakers in its adoption. Tier IV has raised 8.5 billion yen ($53.9 million) in the private placement of new shares.
