NEW YORK -- The speed with which Tesla was able to restore production in China after the lockdown of Shanghai has illustrated the benefit of its ties to government officials, even as investors worry Elon Musk risks falling foul of Beijing.

The U.S. electric carmaker led by Musk endured a rollercoaster second quarter that included a sharp drop in deliveries but ended with its highest ever monthly output in June.
