NAGOYA, Japan -- Toyota Motor boosted Chairman Akio Toyoda's compensation by 20% to nearly 1.95 billion yen ($13.5 million) for the year ended March 31 as the automaker adopted global pay benchmarking, a new regulatory filing shows.

The fiscal 2024 pay for Toyoda, a member of the founding family, marked the highest executive compensation ever at the company for a fourth straight year. He had made 1.62 billion yen for fiscal 2023.
