Hino Motors continues to face a fallout from a engine data cheating scandal that came to light in 2022.

TOKYO -- Hino Motors has recorded net loss of 219.5 billion yen ($1.42 billion) for the first half ended in September, Toyota Motor's truck-making unit said Tuesday, the red ink stemming from a data cheating scandal.

The loss represents a reversal of the 76 million yen net profit posted during the year-earlier period. Hino now projects a net loss of 220 billion yen for the full year ending March 31. No annual dividend is planned.
