HANOI -- Vietnamese automobile maker Thanh Cong Group opened a $340 million car plant on Wednesday in northern Quang Ninh province.

The plant, the first automobile factory in the province, will assemble 120,000 Czech internal combustion engine Skoda cars per year, the Quang Ninh provincial authority said in a statement on its website.
