HO CHI MINH CITY -- Czech automaker Skoda will complete a half-billion-dollar factory in Vietnam this quarter, producing internal combustion engine cars -- before introducing electric vehicles -- with plans to export around Southeast Asia, the government said.
The manufacturer is working with Thanh Cong, a distributor for Hyundai, one of the most popular car brands in Vietnam, according to a post made Sunday night on the government's website. Construction is underway in northern Quang Ninh province, about an hour from VinFast and its large EV production ecosystem.
