Beauty salons key to Shiseido's growth

TOKYO -- Shiseido has set an ambitious growth target despite suffering dismal earnings. Judging by share performance, investors seem to be on board with the company's optimistic outlook.

Shiseido's Beauty Congress 2015 drew hair and beauty professionals from many Asian countries. The event, held in Tokyo on March 9, closed with a live performance by Hirofumi Kera, Shiseido's top in-house hair and makeup artist.

A crucial part of Shiseido's business blueprint is boosting sales of commercial-use products at beauty salons in Asia. It hopes increased exposure to salon patrons will improve brand recognition and lift sales of its consumer products.
