WASHINGTON -- U.S President Joe Biden has decided to block Nippon Steel's $14.9 billion bid for U.S. Steel, the Washington Post reported on Thursday. The move comes after a powerful investment screening panel could not come to a consensus on whether the purchase posed a national security threat.

CBS News reported earlier that the president was likely to announce a decision on the deal as early as Friday.
