Hitachi in talks to sell $1.56bn stake in Hitachi Transport to KKR

Deal would advance Japanese industrial group's efforts to focus on tech

TOKYO -- Hitachi is preparing to sell most of its stake in Hitachi Transport System for around 200 billion yen ($1.56 billion) to U.S. private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Nikkei has learned.

KKR obtained preferential negotiation rights for Hitachi's share in the logistics company. Hitachi has a 40% share and would retain a 10% stake after the deal.
