Hyundai Heavy bids for Doosan construction equipment unit

SEOUL -- South Korean shipbuilding group Hyundai Heavy Industries has submitted a bid to acquire the construction equipment unit of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction in a deal potentially worth over $800 million.

Doosan Infracore is known for its strong presence in the Chinese market. Hyundai Heavy, which is bidding as part of a consortium, hopes the acquisition will bolster its footprint in construction equipment.
