Deal with medical products company Merap aims to tap Asian sales channels

TOKYO -- Japanese consumer goods company Lion said Monday it will take a 36% stake in Vietnamese medical products maker Merap Holding as part of an expansion push in Asia.

Lion did not disclose the value of the deal, under which Merap will become an equity-method affiliate. The share purchase will be completed in late March.
