TOKYO -- Dai-ichi Life Holdings will acquire a 15% stake in Australian insurer Challenger, Nikkei has learned, the latest move by a Japanese insurance company in Australia.

Dai-ichi will buy all Challenger shares held by Japanese peer MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings for 80 billion yen ($550 million) during the current fiscal year.
