Japan's Orix to buy health food company DHC for $2.1bn

Financial services group will purchase all outstanding shares

Orix plans to acquire Japanese cosmetics and health food company DHC for an estimated 300 billion yen. 

TOKYO -- Japanese financial services group Orix will buy Tokyo-based DHC, a major mail-order cosmetics and health food company, in a deal estimated to be worth 300 billion yen ($2.1 billion), Nikkei has learned.

The planned acquisition comes as DHC President and Chairman Yoshiaki Yoshida, who founded the company in 1972, prepares to step down.
