TOKYO -- SG Holdings, one of Japan's leading ground transporters, announced Friday a tender offer to acquire a domestic counterpart that already has a suitor, as pressure mounts for realignment in an industry facing a looming driver shortage.

SG, which owns Sagawa Express, will conduct a tender offer for Chilled & Frozen (C&F) Logistics Holdings at 5,740 yen per share, an 18% premium on Friday's closing price.
