Japanese pen feud nears end as Kokuyo moves to sell Pentel stake

OSAKA/TOKYO -- A battle for control between two of Japan's biggest stationery brands appears headed for its final stroke as the company behind a rare hostile bid now intends to sell.

Kokuyo, a household name known for its notebooks and other school supplies, plans to sell its entire 46% stake in writing instrument maker Pentel to industry peer Plus, Nikkei has learned.
