TOKYO -- Honda Motor and Nissan Motor's merger talks have made little progress, as it is taking time for Nissan to draw up a revival plan which is the condition for the business integration. This has led to Mitsubishi Motors being unable to decide how to participate in the merger talks.
Honda and Nissan announced last month that they would begin talks on business integration. The two companies plan to set up a joint holding company by August 2026, but Honda has set around the end of January as the deadline for Nissan to present a plan for "turnaround actions" from its sluggish business performance, which is "the premise" of the business integration.
